The Puppy Need Manual

Getting a new puppy is an exciting part of a dog lover’s life. However the prospective owner must also take into consideration that there are things needed when getting a new dog.
Using a crate big enough to accommodate the dog when it is fully grown is a good idea when preparing a dog’s bed. It may be lined with cushions, pillows, and blankets to keep it warm and comfortable. A doggy gate must also be installed on a door in the house to allow the dog to exit and enter as it needs to. If possible, include an exercise pen for the dog to play in when the owner is away. This will prevent the dog from playing with household items that may cause damage or even injure it.
Getting toys for puppies is a good idea, as these will also serve as teething toys for the puppy to bite on when its teeth start to erupt. It will ease the discomfort they experience and will also strengthen their teeth. A toy bone would be ideal. It must not, however, be too big to bite or small enough to be swallowed.
While still a puppy, it must be trained to wear a collar and to walk with a leash. The collar will identify it if ever it gets lost. Besides, there are laws that require dog owners to buy collars for their dogs. The owner can choose between training collars and collars for everyday use and may consult with a groomer or a veterinarian in choosing the proper collar.
The owners must also get their own supply of dog grooming materials. This is not necessary, however, if the owner chooses to avail of professional grooming services. Nevertheless, claw clippers, coat brushes, combs, and towels are needed for the dog’s basic necessities.
When the dog spends its first night in the owner’s home, it may feel anxious, nervous, afraid, or sad because it was separated from its mother and siblings and is now in a new environment. It may cry all night or leave droppings all over the house. The owner must soothe the dog by petting it and gently speaking to it. The dog will eventually learn to trust its new owner and will feel more comfortable.
Dogs can be choosy when it comes to food. Owners may try out samples of different food brands and find out what the dog likes. Food brands and flavors may be shifted from time to time so as not to tire the dog’s taste. The food brand must provide balanced nutrition appropriate for the dog’s age and breed. A constant supply of clean drinking water is a must.
